The area known as Phoebus today has been called Phoebus since 1900. While the town started to develop a community, and it was no High School in the area, part of the community took to name themselves after the Los Angeles Raiders. From the Pirates at HU to the infamous pirates who looted along the Chesapeake Bay, the spirit of the Raider has been in Phoebus for a while.
Towards the 80s/ early 90s, the youth of the community decided to run with a moniker they adapted from the North Phoebus Community Center address. Henceforth the underrepresented community inside of Phoebus was known as 249 by people In the community and surrounding areas.
Since the 90s, its been waves of gentrification adding layers that blur out the already underrepresented community in Phoebus. Present day its 420 festivals, Beer festivals, music festivals, all with activities someone from the underrepresented community would have been arrested for as kids. This "P" was designed with all that in mind, by people who developed themselves at NPCC. With the focus being on a connection between 249 and the more represented communities. Which is the ocean that sets the temperament, and tone for the town. No matter whats going on Phoebus always has motion.
